Welcome to ecoTumble: The Green Tumblelog.
ecoTumble is a companion site for Lighter Footstep. It’s a quick read: bite-sized pieces of green news, tips, and trivia. We hope you’ll find it fun, entertaining, and a bit irreverent.
So what is a tumbleblog? If blogs are personal journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks. You’ll find links, quotes, videos, factoids — little snippets gathered from all over, presented in a highly concise fashion. Tumbled together, as it were.
Tumblelogs have been around for a couple of years. They actually owe a substantial debt to the earliest days of blogging — back in the pre-Google Dark Ages — when if you wanted to find something, you really had to go digging. Blogs evolved partially as a way for friends to share links and information of common interest. Tumblelogs revive this tradition, with a minimum of fuss and clutter.
No comments. No long narratives. Just a green stream of cool stuff.
Thanks to the terrific hosted tumblelog service Tumblr, there are tens of thousands of people Tumbling. There are also popular sites which are regarded as archetypes of tumbleblogs, such as Anarchia and Projectionist (and, yes, the latter admittedly provided a lot of inspiration for ecoTumble).
Still don’t get it? Just read ecoTumble for a few days — subscribe the RSS feed, if you wish. You’ll catch on.
And if you run into something worthy of a quick ecoTumble, drop us a line. You’ll find a handy Contact link in the left column of our front page.
Tumble On!
